Elie Honig Early Life
Elie Honig was born in Camden, New Jersey, on March 4, 1975, making him 48 years old as of the year 2023. He was born and raised in Voorhees, but subsequently moved to Cherry Hill, where he graduated with the class of 1992. He received a degree and left Rutgers University in 1997. Later, in 2000, he graduated from Harvard University with a JD (Doctor of Law).
The grandparents of Elie immigrated from Poland in 1949 and were survivors of extermination camps. His grandparents settled in Passaic City, New Jersey, to the north of Newark after arriving in the country. Soon after, in 1950, his father was born. His mother worked as a social worker, and his father now runs a legal practise in Cherry Hill. Ben Honig is his younger brother (also known as Benjamin Gary Honig). Dana Ovadia is the wife of his brother.
After graduating, Elie began his profession. At Covington & Burling LLP in Washington, District of Columbia, he worked as an Associate. His first case, involving the attempted robbery of a renowned drug dealer law suite, took little over a month to complete. He worked there from September 2000 until April 2004. He was appointed as the Assistant United States Attorney for the Southern District of New York in April 2004. He was prosecuting Genovese organised crime family commander Angelo Prisco at the time. As a federal prosecutor in New York, he also defeated over 100 mafia members. He received a promotion to the position of Assistant Attorney General in the New Jersey Division of Criminal Justice later in September 2012. He spent at least five years there handling criminal cases before departing in May 2018.

Elie is a contented, happily married guy. His wife is an American lawyer by the name of Rachael Honig. The couple is blessed with two kids in total: a small boy and a 15-year-old daughter. His wife Rachael served as the District of New Jersey’s interim US attorney in 2021. She also became the second woman in the office’s 230-year history to occupy this post.
